CNMI upgrades security infrastructure for government officials

CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management has issued Personal Identity Validation cards to CNMI Gov. Arnold Palacios and Lt. Gov. David Apatang.
“The PIV-I Access card represents a significant advancement in the security infrastructure of the CNMI, enhancing the identification and authentication process for key officials within the CNMI government,” according to a press release from CNMI HSEM.
They added, “The PIV-I Access card provides enhanced security features, including multi-factor authentication, identity verification, increased cybersecurity, and interoperability between local, state, and federal partner agencies.”
They said it is critical to enhance security measures during emergencies and disasters.
HSEM is the first agency in the government to implement the program. They plan to expand it to other agencies in the future.
