A jury has reached a verdict for a mother accused of killing her one-year-old son last November.

On Monday morning in Superior Court, jurors found Giltanan Ramangmou guilty of negligent homicide as a third-degree felony and child abuse as a third-degree felony and misdemeanor.

Deliberations wrapped up last Friday afternoon and continued into early today.

The verdict came after jurors viewed graphic photos of the child’s injuries and heard final arguments from both sides.

As KUAM reported, the murder case unfolded the day after Halloween, in November 2023, at Ramangmou’s home in Dededo.

Authorities arrived to find the young boy lifeless.

Ramangmou told 911 operators that her son had bumped his head and fallen out of the crib.

However, prosecutors pointed out during the trial that Ramangmou later admitted to police she had been changing bed sheets and forgot the baby was on the bed, resulting in the child hitting the wall and falling to the ground.

Former Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jeffrey Nine previously testified that the child’s cause of death was from blunt force injuries to the head, consistent with Battered Baby Syndrome, with the manner being homicide.

Ramangmou now faces ten years in prison.
