CNMI Gov. Arnold Palacios will meet with Star Marianas on Wednesday after the airline announced its plans to terminate air service in October due to fee-setting disputes with the Commonwealth Ports Authority.

Over the weekend, Palacios said, “The airline’s services are not merely a convenience for our people, but a necessity that impacts…economic growth and development, residents’ access to healthcare, education, and overall quality of life.”

Tinian mayor Edwin Aldan and Rota mayor Aubry Hocog wrote to Star Marianas urging them to reconsider, noting that they are the only commuter airline within the CNMI.

KUAM has reached out to the Commonwealth Ports Authority for comment.
