A total of nine beaches on Guam were found to be polluted this week.

The Guam Environmental Protection Agency collected 43 samples and found these recreational waters are polluted above the accepted bacteriological standards

This includes Bangi Beach and Togcha beaches by the bridge as well as by the cemetery in Hågat; Asan Bay Beach; Inalåhan Bay; Santos Memorial in Piti; East Hagåtña Bay - Trinchera Beach in Tamuning; and Humåtak Bay and Toguan Bay in Humåtak.

The public is cautioned that swimming, fishing or playing in unsafe waters may result in minor illnesses. Children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems have a greater chance of getting sick when they come in contact with contaminated water.
