Guam Regional Medical City is proud to commemorate its 9th anniversary throughout July with a series of events designed to celebrate with its employees and the local community and this milestone highlights GRMC’s dedication to advancing healthcare in Guam.

“This year has been pivotal in the hospital's journey, marked by several significant milestones and achievements worth reflecting upon. It has been a period of growth and innovation, where we have expanded our healthcare services and commitment to the community,” said GRMC’s CEO, Dr. Alexander “Beau” Wielaard.

In recognition of its commitment to excellence in stroke care, GRMC received the prestigious American Heart Association Get with The Guidelines Stroke Gold Award showcasing the adherence to national guidelines for providing exceptional stroke care.

GRMC additionally expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Dr. Edison P. Manaloto, a board-certified internist, as Chief Medical Officer, alongside Dr. Alexander “Beau” Wielaard stepping up to Chief Executive Officer.

Guam's neuroscience capabilities have also seen substantial progress with the arrival of neurosurgeons Dr. Scott C. Dulebohn and Dr. Luc Jasmin, alongside neurologist and sleep specialist Dr. Naho Hattori.

GRMC has also bolstered its cardiac care services by adding interventional cardiologists Drs. Bishoy ElBebawy and Maheswara “Mahesh” Golla, ensuring comprehensive emergency cardiac care for the community.

GRMC expanded its Advanced Primary Stroke Center, now offering 24/7 TeleStroke Services, and launched the new Transitional Care Clinic (TCC) to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital readmissions.

Additionally, the hospital introduced urology services through the new Urology Center, led by local experts Dr. Ann Fenton and Dr. Virgilio Petero.

The month-long anniversary celebrations began with the 9th Anniversary Wave on July 1.

Employees will enjoy Macy’s Shopping Day on July 12 with exclusive discounts.

A special Anniversary Mass and Blessing will take place at the GRMC Chapel on July 15 at noon, followed by blessings for each department.

On July 19, GRMC will host a Carnival featuring games and food, followed by a Bazaar on July 26 where employees and community vendors will set up booths to celebrate Christmas in July.

The celebrations will culminate with a Health Fair at Micronesia Mall on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering free vital screenings, opportunities to meet healthcare providers, and raffle prizes.
