Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood from the U.S. District Court of Guam announced the promotion of two of their court members.

Assuming the position of Chair of the Magistrate Judges Executive Board is Magistrate Judge Michael Bordallo following the retirement of Magistrate Judge Kendall Newman.

Bordallo originally began his term as Vice-Chair in October 2023. The Board serves as the committee to respond to inquiries by, and communicate with, the Ninth Circuit Judicial Council on matters relating to the magistrate judge system.

Ms. Shirlene Guerrero was also promoted to the position of Budget and Human Resources Officer with the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office. She will continue to oversee the district’s finance divisions.

Guerrero is noted to be a dedicated and exemplary employee who began her career with the District Court in 2003 as a Docket Clerk/Generalist and worked her way up to Financial Administrator.

As Financial Administrator she manages and oversees day-to-day accounting and budget operations. She additionally coordinates the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, Haggan Games, Red Ribbon and assists with Jump for Justice.

Guerrero is set to begin her new role on Aug. 12, 2024.
