Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, which erupted early Monday morning, has paused.

Officials said effusion lava ceased around 8:30 a.m. Chamorro Standard Time.

They continue to monitor it, saying the region remains dynamic and could change quickly.

A video captured the eruption. The last time Kilauea erupted was last September and the lava flow lasted one week.

The activity last year resulted in a volcanic haze advisory for Guam, which local meteorologists said this time will likely not occur.
