Docomo Pacific announced the appointment of their new President and Chief Executive Officer, Christine Baleto.

Baleto succeeds Rod Boss, who recently announced his retirement.

After six years of leadership, Rod has decided to embark on a new journey, relocating to Japan to focus on religious endeavors. During his tenure, the company achieved milestones and pushed through unprecedented challenges.

A few remarkable company milestones achieved include:

  1. Being the first telecom company to launch 5G Mobile services in Guam and the CNMI.
  2. Pioneering the enhancement and deployment of direct fiber internet into homes and businesses.
  3. First telecom to provide an OTT Cable TV experience known as the dTV+ app in Guam and the CNMI.

As the current Chief Financial Officer and Chief Security and Compliance Officer, Baleto has been an integral part of their leadership team since 2019, becoming the first woman to join Docomo's Senior Leadership Team.

With her bringing her expertise to this role, Docomo isn’t just welcoming a seasoned leader but embracing a new era as she again makes history as the first woman to assume the CEO role within Docomo Pacific.

Baleto also brings a deep understanding of our region’s unique challenges and rich history. As a descendant of Guam, she embodies a local touch that resonates with our community. She has an established career grounded here in Guam, spanning time served in the private, public, and non-profit sectors.

Baleto is also community-centered as proven through her public service as an active member of many civic and local boards over the years.

Christine recently joined the Guam Education Board, which is responsible for all policies that govern the Guam Department of Education.

Before her newfound role, she served as the Chairwoman of the Board for the Guam Chamber of Commerce for two years and was a board member for six years. She also served in many leadership roles with various non-profit organizations throughout the island.

"We extend our gratitude to Rod for his six-year service at the helm of DOCOMO PACIFIC, and we wish him every success in his future endeavors. We welcome Christine to her new role as President and CEO,” said Akihiro Hikuma, the Senior Vice-President and General Manager of the Network Department at Docomo.

“Her proven leadership skills and vision align seamlessly with our mission and values. We have complete confidence in her ability to steer the company towards even greater success in the future,” Hikuma added.
