It was on April 25 when the Attorney General was disqualified due to a conflict in the case against Guam Regional Transit Authority officials.
Attorney Jay Arriola represented defendant Alejo Sablan in the Government of Guam corruption case.
Superior Court Judge Alberto Tolentino issued the decision and order but also gave the AG’s office 30 days from the date the order was filed to appoint a special prosecutor for the case, or “the matter will be dismissed in its entirety.”
As KUAM reported, Sablan is charged along with Jennifer Badar Cruz, Richard Ybanez, Kevin Susuico and Anthony Chargualaf.
Prosecutors alleged government funds were improperly used to pay Ybanez for a position he was not qualified to hold.
As of news time, there has been no update by the AG.
