The Department of Public Works is advising the community to drive with extra caution this weekend as its workers install traffic delineators on a stretch of road that has been the site of multiple speed-related crashes and collisions over the years.
From 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, DPW will be closing a portion of the inner lanes of Route 1/Marine Corps Drive between Adelup and Asan, known as Dead Man’s Curve, to install “candlestick”-type traffic delineators on the center dividing line of the four-lane roadway.
Lanes may also be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Traffic signs will be placed along the road shoulder as an additional safety measure while work is being performed.
The effort is intended to remind Guam’s drivers to be alert and reduce their speed in an area known for its dangerous collisions.
Officers with the Guam Police Department will also be present to assist with traffic control in both directions, to ensure the safety of DPW workers.
