The Guam Department of Education and Guam Trades Academy have put together a cycle of classes in construction trades for the 2024 summer break beginning June 3 and will run through July 9, 2024. High School students may register in one of 3 courses offere

The Guam Department of Education and Guam Trades Academy have put together a cycle of classes in construction trades for the 2024 summer break beginning June 3 and will run through July 9, 2024.
High School students may register in one of 3 courses offered:
- Core Curriculum:
- Covers topics such as Basic Safety, Introduction to Power Tools, Introduction to Construction Drawings, Basic Rigging, and provides the foundations for the upper level courses.
- Construction Craft Laborer Level 1:
- Covers topics such as Building Materials, Properties of Concrete, Site Layout – Differential Leveling, Foundations & Slab on Grade. (May be taken after successful completion of Core Curriculum.)
- Construction Craft Laborer Level 2:
- Covers topics such as Carpentry, Ironworking, Electrical, Welding, Heavy Equipment, and Cranes. (May be taken after successful completion of Core Curriculum and Construction Craft Laborer Level 1.)
Upon completion of the Core Curriculum, students will receive a National Center for Construction Education and Research certification.
This reflects the skills and knowledge needed for construction careers that employers recognize and consider when hiring.
