Simon Sanchez High School Army JROTC drill team wins

Simon A. Sanchez High School's Army JROTC Shark Battalion displayed exceptional skill, earning them the 2024 Golden Bear West Coast National Drill Competition held in Torrance, California.
The Unarmed Drill Team, Armed Drill Team, and Color Guard Teams, both Rifle and Saber, showcased their discipline, precision, and teamwork, demonstrating the high standards of training and dedication to the JROTC program.
This accomplishment serves as an inspiration to their peers and a testament to the supportive environment cultivated by the educators and staff at Simon Sanchez High School.
They competed against over 40 high schools from across the west coast,including states like Nevada, Arizona, Alaska, and teams from the Commonwealth of the Northern
Mariana Islands (CNMI), the Sharks have emerged as a formidable team.
Their achievements include:
- 2nd Place Unarmed Varsity Exhibition Drill
- 2nd Place Unarmed Varsity Sweepstakes
- 3rd Place 4-Person Exhibition Drill
This achievement not only reflects the hard work of the cadets but also highlights the exceptional leadership and mentorship provided by their Army JROTC instructors.
LTC Kevin Yatar, MSG Clifford Duenas, and SFC Joseph Achivida have played pivotal roles in guiding these young individuals to reach such a significant milestone.
