The president of the Northern Marianas College Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero received national recognition for his leadership from the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education Association.

He was recognized at the national conference in Oakland, California last month. The annual conference is described as the largest gathering of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander educational leaders in the United States. Participants from across the nation discuss best practices and new trends in higher education.

Dr. Deleon Guerrero said, "Well, it's from the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education Association…it is the longest serving and largest association for Asian-Pacific Islanders in higher education. And they hold an annual conference that they've been running now for decades. And every year they recognize some key individuals, including four CEOs every year. And I feel privileged to have been selected as one of the four for 2024."

Dr. Deleon Guerrero also participated in a panel hosted by the White House at the University of California, Berkeley where he discussed issues that affect the AANHPI community.
