With 2024 Police Week festivities kicking-off today with a softball tournament, sources close to KUAM confirm chairpersons  of the Police Week committees were instructed not to invite members of the 37th Guam Legislature to any of the week's events, with the exception of the Fallen Officer Memorial Ceremony.

No reason was given.

But it begs the question: could it be in response to Wednesday's town hall meeting with Simon Sanchez High School?

As we reported, there was tension between the administration and senators during the forum, which addressed the need to rebuild the Home of the Sharks. Education oversight chair Senator Chris Barnett took aim at Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio in his comments.

Barnett is also the public safety oversight chair.

KUAM reached out to Adelup and GPD.

Director of Communications Krystal Paco-San Agustin and GPD PIO Berlyn Savella both provided the same exact statement, "No invitations have been sent out. Nothing has been finalized."
