If you were traveling in Hagatna this morning, chances are you probably saw a big pacific blue marlin being towed to the Guam Museum.
The replica of the world record fish, which has been on display at the Guam International Airport, will temporarily make its home at the museum.
It's all part of the new exhibit that is slated to open on Friday, April 5 with a reception at 6 p.m.
‘I Maneguihan: Families that Fish’ is an exhibit put together by the museum and the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council.
According to Guam island coordinator Felix Reyes, the marlin, which was caught by Greg Perez on August 21, 1969, put Guam into the spotlight, with the world record 1,152 lb. catch.
Perez, along with his children are featured in the exhibit as making significant impacts in the sport of fishing on Guam. Members of the Perez family greeted the Marlin at the museum.
The exhibit opens April 5 and will run till June 14 at the Guam Museum, Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
