The fate of a man accused of molesting a young girl known to him now rests in the hands of a Superior Court jury.
William Robert Reyes is on trial facing charges of first and second-degree criminal sexual conduct and family violence.
Parties gave closing arguments in Judge John Terlaje's courtroom.
Prosecuting Attorney Christine Tenorio told the jury Reyes' alleged actions were no accident and Defense Attorney Michael Brown discredited the alleged victim’s testimony.
Outside of the courtroom, the victim's parents told KUAM all they want is justice for their daughter.
The alleged victim’s father said, “It was a really rough road. We really want justice to be served for our daughter and hopefully it goes in our favor…She’s better. She’s at peace. She took the stand and that’s all she needed and now we’re just waiting for justice.”
The alleged victim, now in her early 20's, was nine when the abuse began.
Investigators with the Guam Police Department's (GPD) Domestic Assault Response Team learned that Reyes had relocated off-island, but later returned and was allegedly evading law enforcement.
