Dr. Nine announces resignation as Chief Medical Examiner

The search for a new Chief Medical Examiner will get underway after Dr. Jeffrey Nine announced he will be resigning from the position.

Dr. Nine submitted his resignation to the Post Mortem Commission on Wednesday.

He cited personal circumstances that have required him to relocate to the mainland with his family.

His last day is April 29.

Dr. Nine also noted he contacted an off-island board certified pathologist who may be able to provide contract services.

You may recall, he started in summer 2022, more than three years after the previous Chief Medical Examiner retired.

The commission is expected to meet to begin the search for his replacement.
