Closing out Mes CHamoru, on Saturday, March 30, the Guam Museum Foundation in collaboration with the Department of CHamoru Affairs, PBS Guam, the Guam International Film Festival, and Guampedia presents two locally-produced films.

A live discussion on the National Park Service WWII true history project by Dr. Jennifer Craig, the screening of “We Drank Our Tears” by Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero, and “War for Guam” by Frances Negrón-Muntaner at the Guam Museum Theater beginning at 1 p.m.

Rita Nauta, the Managing Director for Guampedia, said it's all part of the Marianas Storytelling: Land & Lineage series.

“Its not just a cultural expression of art in our culture but it's also a time-honored tradition. In ancient times, storytellers had the same kind of ranking as skilled craftsmen because they were the keepers of our knowledge, of our history. We come from an oral tradition. We put this program together called ‘Land and Lineage.’ It's a reflection of how we as Chamorros of the Marianas identify ourselves,” said Nauta.

Stop by the Guam Museum at 1 p.m., and celebrate the vibrant storytelling traditions of the Marianas and explore the enduring legacy of land and lineage in CHamoru identity.
