Man arrested in Tumon shooting

A group in Tumon experienced a scare over the weekend after a reported shooting. Authorities said the alleged shooter was apparently drunk.
That man is now facing charges in local court.
Twenty-seven-year-old Perry Jamal Benitez is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and reckless conduct.
Court documents state he was tracking his cell phone when it pinged near a group of three people in Tumon on Saturday.
Documents state it was after the group denied knowing anything about his phone that they heard Benitez rack what sounded like a gun before hearing a loud bang.
Others walking by allegedly told police they hid behind a metal container after seeing Benitez fire into the air.
Benitez allegedly denied pulling the trigger but officers did find a shell casing at the scene.
Benitez has since been released on a $1,000 bond.
