A couple charged in connection to a deadly shooting in Tamuning allegedly planned the robbery to pay off a drug debt.

Domingo Mendiola, 36, is charged with aggravated murder, first-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a schedule II controlled substance, along with special allegations of possession or use of a deadly weapon in the commission of felony.

Jenna Rose Manibusan, 36, is charged with complicity to commit aggravated murder, complicity to commit first-degree robbery, and complicity to commit theft of a motor vehicle.

Court documents state the couple discussed a plan to rob someone on Valentine’s Day because Mendiola needed money for an owed drug debt.

The pair allegedly targeted customers at the Thai Thai Healthy Cuisine restaurant that night before Mendiola allegedly shot the victim identified as 53-year-old Sumittra Lairopi.

The pair fled with her car before ditching it in Sinajana, documents state.

Lairopi died from her injuries at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) two days later.

Officers with the Guam Police Department (GPD) tracked down the suspects after finding a separate car left behind at the scene with drugs inside.

The couple were arrested by authorities Monday.

Police said more arrests are expected.

Mendiola allegedly denied the shooting but admitted he smokes meth and owned the drugs that officers located near the crime scene.
