United Airlines approved for direct flight between Guam and Haneda Tokyo

In what may be a much-needed boost for Japan to Guam visitor arrivals, United Airlines has won a highly sought-after slot at Tokyo’s Haneda airport.
According to a U.S. Department of Transportation “notice of action,” the airline received approval today for one night-time only slot beginning Apr. 2, 2024 “in order for United to provide year-round daily scheduled transportation between Guam and Tokyo Haneda.
UAL has been pushing for additional access to Haneda airport for a direct flight from Guam.
Haneda is located within the city of Tokyo, making it much more convenient for travelers to Japan’s largest city, and also for international and domestic passengers seeking outbound connections from Japan.
United had applied as far back as September for slots previously allocated to Hawaiian Airlines that it had not been using, but was initially denied.
