The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office is advising the community of gusty winds and dry conditions that could potentially lead to high fire threats beginning this Tuesday morning.

A red flag warning is in effect from Tuesday, 10 a.m. to Thursday, 6 p.m. for Guam. Outdoor burning is not recommended as any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

Additionally, a high surf advisory, high risk of rip current, and small craft advisory are also in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until Thursday, 6 p.m.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions and for the duration of the advisories.

If you are caught in a rip current, do not swim against the current. Swim in a direction following the shoreline, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Conditions will be hazardous to small craft. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to avoid hazardous surf and seas. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags, and signs. Refrain from outdoor burning.
