Guam welcomed the first of two charter flights from Taiwan. Operated by Taiwanese air carrier Starlux, they aim to bring vacationers to Guam ahead of the Chinese New Year (CNY).

The promotion was successful as both flights were fully booked at a capacity of about 177 seats each.  The second flight will arrive on Saturday, February 10th.

The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) was on site to welcome the first arrivals with music and Made in Guam gift items, such as donne’ denanche, cookies, and chocolate in the auspicious red bags for the Chinese New Year.

Kiko the Ko’ Ko Bird also made a special appearance for incoming visitors.

GVB also provided incentive meal coupons for participating hotels and restaurants to passengers to help celebrate the CNY holiday and provide a memorable experience while on Guam.

GVB’s President & CEO Carl Gutierrez states, “It’s important to showcase our hospitality to these visitors from Taiwan as well as our deep appreciation. They have chosen Guam out of all destinations to spend their holidays and that speaks volumes about the viability of the Taiwan market.”
