The sudden passing of a deputy attorney general has delayed the decision for the use of the former racetrack in Yigo.

The Guam Racing Federation met with with CHamoru Land Trust Commission on Wednesday.

What was supposed to be both a discussion and possible decision made on the use of the Yigo Raceway Track is now paused.

Deputy AG Frank Gumataotao, who passed away last Friday, was reviewing the documents. For now, the CLTC is unable legally make a decision. Still, the federation was still given an opportunity to speak again before the commission.

GRF Board member Michael Limtiaco said, "It wouldn't work very well for a drag strip," with David Herrera replying, "Understand. So what I'm saying is that you guys don't need the one million acres or one million square meters. You don't need the 250 acres."

Herrera said, "My point is that again, please understand our mission is housing and agriculture. Just keep that in mind. Are we against the racing? No. So that's just my take on it."

Limtiaco said, "How many acres is the football site, I don't know, how many acres is a house eco site. I don't either those are agriculture residential. And it was still licensed by the Commission, but it's another branch. It's not, but it's still it promotes safety, a safe activity, whether it's football, or soccer, or motorcycle racing, or drag racing is the benefit to the community is the same. "

Three options are up for consideration to use the former racetrack.

The matter will be discussed again at the next CLTC meeting on February 15.
