It’s a dedication to being a part of democracy, the University of Guam (UOG) is taking part in National Help America Vote Day ahead of Decision 2024.

The Guam Election Commission collaborated with UOG and island leaders to encourage Triton youth to be precinct officials in the upcoming election, spread awareness on voter registration, and to emphasize the importance of their voice in shaping the island’s future.

Kyona Rivera is UOG’s Student Government Association President and she said, “I do appreciate events like this that bring the youth together, the triton community, and everybody in Guam to bring awareness to these kinds of things. I do believe a lack of awareness is something that we face today about voting and the right to vote and registration because that’s something that we need the youth to be more aware of. I know we are doing a lot with GEC, with student leaders and organizations; we are doing as much as we can to bring that awareness back to our students.”

Governor Leon Guerrero marked the significant day with a proclamation signing, followed by a resolution by Senator Amanda Shelton and remarks from UOG’s Student Government Association.
