Police: Glue gun source of scare at Guahan Academy Charter school

A hot glue gun for a class project caused a misunderstanding at Guahan Academy Charter School that required police response to the Barrigada campus early Monday.
According to a GPD press release, the Central Precinct Command received a phone call from Guahan Academy about a student who was believed to possibly have a gun on campus.
The school’s principal immediately placed the campus on lockdown following precautionary measures.
Officers conducted a thorough investigation of the reported incident and found that “through word of mouth that a student had overheard another student mention the possession of a gun.”
The “gun” turned out to be an electric hot glue gun brought to school by a student for a class project.
The lockdown was lifted shortly after police arrived on scene and the situation was resolved without incident.
Immediate communication was made with students, parents, and school staff to address any concerns and provide accurate information about the incident.
GPD emphasized that at no point during this incident, were any children, staff members, or community members injured.
“The collaboration between Guahan Academy and the Central Precinct Command highlights the importance of prompt and effective response protocols in ensuring the safety of our educational institutions,” the press release stated.
