Drug dealer spared jail time

A woman who admitted to selling drugs in Guam is spared jail time.
Monica Calvo was sentenced to serve five years' supervised release before Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood Thursday.
The sentencing hearing was spread out over three days as the court questioned prosecutors about Calvo's cooperation with federal investigators.
After going through the three day sentencing, Defense Attorney Cynthia Ecube told KUAM that many of those on defense counsel feel it's important to notwithstand what the actual results from any case and to make sure that to all those who go before the court are treated fairly, saying “The whole goal here is just to make sure that the court knew that my client did the things that she promised she would do under a plea agreement. So I think it says a lot for many of us who defend clients that we just want to make sure that there's a fair process.”
She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine hydrochloride.
In 2018, the feds raided Calvo's hotel room in Tumon where authorities found 19 grams of meth, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, a firearm with ammunition and more than 7,400 in cash, suspected to be drug proceeds.
