About 100 Guam Army National Guard Soldiers from Ayuyu Company, 1-294th Infantry (Chamorri Battalion) made it to the Middle East to participate in Operation Spartan Shield.
The troops spent the past month preparing for the deployment in Texas.
"Ayuyu Company Soldiers completed post-mobilization requirements consisting of medical screenings, AR 350-1 trainings, individual weapons qualifications, squad and platoon live-fire exercises, base defense operations, and additional trainings and mandatory briefs,” said Capt. Sheryl Padilla, Commander, Alpha Company. “Validation is complete and Soldiers are ready to carry out the mission. The Ayuyu Warriors appreciate the continued support and prayers from family and friends across the nation."
Soldiers will be deployed for about one year.
