Guam Animals in Need (GAIN) and PDC Wholesale partnering once more to bring you the ‘Home for the Holidays’ pet adoption event this Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Twenty-some adorable fur babies will be waiting for their new best friend, each with their own special story.

KUAM would like to introduce you to one of them ahead of the event, a blind pitbull named Aura.

While she cannot see, this friendly pitbull is still looking for a forever home. She’s great with children and also great with other dogs.

Guam Animals in Need foster mom Kelsey Graupner has been taking care of Aura since Animal Control officers picked her up two months ago.

“She was, I think abandoned in a neighborhood and they got her and brought her here. We got a bunch of people calling saying hey we would love to have her whenever she passes her evaluations,” She said.

Several people initially reached out wanting to adopt her but later changed their minds.

They said, “She also has seizures which is possibly why she’s blind. And it's even harder to get her adopted because she’s blind and has seizures.”

Aura will be getting surgery next week to remove her eyes.

“The ophthalmologist in the States said that it's better to remove them as they’re filled with liquid,” She said.

Then she’ll be ready to be anyone’s best friend, even if she needs to find a home miles away.

Graupner continued, “They’re going to try to find someone here but we’ve been trying for a little bit. So we will move towards flying her off island once she’s stable with seizure medication.”

But you can meet her here at Yigo animal shelter as soon as Saturday.

GAIN and PDC Wholesale will be hosting a pet adoption event.

PDC Wholesale sales Manager Brianna Crisostomo said, “This is actually our second annual home for the holidays event. It's just another way we partner to help promote pet adoption.”

Through their help, pet adoption fees will be a flat rate of $100 which covers vaccines, dewormers, surgeries and a microchip.

GAIN Executive Director Alison Hadley said, “These guys, they want just what everybody wants. They want a loving home and family to be with. They may not know it's the holidays but the staff do and we want them to be in a home. We love our work and what we do but this is not where we want the pets to be.”

There will be food trucks, information booths, free goody bags and of course 7 adult cats, 12 kittens, 8 puppies and 5 adult dogs all looking for a loving home.

Make sure to stop by the Yigo animal shelter this Saturday, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to give these furbabies a home for the holidays!
