Another defendant admits guilt in an illegal gambling operation uncovered by federal authorities.

Minda San Nicolas pleaded guilty to conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business and to two counts of money laundering.

San Nicolas faces up to 20 years in prison, but was allowed to remain free until her sentencing. She is scheduled to appear back in court on Feb. 15 next year.

San Nicolas and others were charged in the District Court of Guam on allegations that they conduct an illegal gambling business in Tamuning under the guise of bingo fundraising for Guam Shrine Club Hafa Adai Bingo.

Federal prosecutors alleged that as a result of the conspiracy, bingo proceeds upwards of 34 million dollars were deposited into various accounts.

Last month, co-defendant Alfredo D. Leon Guerrero pleaded guilty to his part in the illegal scheme.

Trial for the five others is set for May 14.
