Attention to the local fishing community: the Guam Fisherman's Cooperative Association is hosting two important meetings this Saturday. The first is a required public scoping meeting on Nov. 11th at 5pm in order to receive a $3 million federal grant.

Co-Cop president Manny Duenas says it’s funds desperately needed after the local fish store was totally devastated during Typhoon Mawar. "when you lose 20 percent or 30 percent its fine. But when you lose everything, its a major struggle to get things back especially when you don’t have the financial resources."

The store has been closed for half a year now.

He hopes to open the temporary location by thanksgiving but admits that goal feels out of reach, saying, "Hopefully, but I really doubt it (about opening in Thanksgiving). We have a lot of hoops we have to jump through. I joke around that the past six months I feel like a dog in a circus jumping through all the hoops and all i get is a chew to eat. And someday I hope to get to have that whole pan of dog food."

The association will also host a membership meeting the same evening at 7pm.

Both meetings will be held at the Co-Op's temporary facility in Hagatna near Paseo.
