More than 24 hours after the body of a 54-year-old Hagat man was found in Sumai steps away from the front gate of Naval Base Guam, police detectives were able to track down the alleged murder suspect.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jamie John Nededog was taken into police custody and accused in the brutal killing.

The victim - who authorities are not yet naming - was found in the jungle area behind the Sumay Pub and Grill midday Sunday, badly beaten and appeared to have been hit by a car.

Authorities discovered the victim’s dark gray 2012 Toyota pickup truck was missing. It was spotted in front of Mount Carmel School in Hagat on Monday.

Officers later located Nededog who had allegedly bragged about a pickup with blood inside it.

Details into what motivated the killing remain unclear.

The victim's autopsy was performed today by chief medical examiner Dr. Jeffrey Nine.

Police say the victim suffered several injuries to his face and head consistent with blunt-force trauma.

Nededog was arrested on suspicion of murder, reckless conduct, theft of property, use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, disinterring a corpse, destroying evidence, theft of a motor vehicle, and aggravated assault.

Now, Nededog is no stranger to local authorities. In 2020, he was arrested on terrorizing charges in connection to a shooting reported at the Hagat Mayor's Office.

Court documents state that in August 2020, Nededog threatened two workers there at gunpoint and fired the weapon.

No one was hurt.

At the time, Nededog allegedly admitted to police that he was mad at one of the victims claiming the victim disrespected him.

Meantime, officers involved in the murder investigation involving Nededog are waiting to speak with the victim's family before releasing his name.

Nededog could go before a superior court judge to answer to the murder charges Wednesday afternoon.

KUAM learned late today that Nededog pleaded guilty to harassment charges in that 2020 case. Witnesses telling authorities there was no gun involved in the incident.
