It took a Superior Court jury less than one hour to find a man guilty of molesting a young girl.

Ricky Santos Cruz was convicted of four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, along with four special allegations for committing those sexual acts against a vulnerable victim.

His trial was held before Judge John Terlaje.

In February 2021, the child told police the abuse happened repeatedly when she was only in the fourth grade, adding she was too afraid to call for help.

Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.

The attorney general's office stated, "The minor victim has been waiting more than two years for justice, and that day finally arrived today."
