Biba Mangilao! Annual Donnne' Festival returns this weekend
<br/>Prepare yourself for everything pika.<br/><br/>The annual Mangilao Donne' Festival is kicking off this Friday through Sunday at the Night Market grounds.
From mouth-watering competitions bringing the fire, live music, a petting zoo, a magic show, carnival games, food vendors, and much more.
Mayor Allan Ungacta says Mangilao is sure to be the hottest village this weekend.
"We have a kadon pika contest. We got the dinanche contest," he said. "We also got the largest homegrown pepper contest so we encourage the farmers or anyone out there. If you’ve got homegrown peppers that you think is the biggest and hottest, bring it by. We got a lot of things going on that we are trying to push and promote as well."
The Mangilao Donne’ festival kicks off this Friday through Sunday at the Mangilao night market grounds.

"This Friday, you can expect a lot of great things. We’re very excited," the mayor said. "We’re going to have rides, we’re going to have contests, games for the kids as well, and family-oriented gatherings. Come by and bring the family. It’s going to be hot out here in Mangilao."
Today the mayor’s office making sure the venue is ready for the three-day celebration, especially after Typhoon Mawar ripped off the tin roofs at the night market grounds.
"We’re kind of sprucing up the area and making it presentable," Ungacta said. "We’re making sure it’s safe. We’re also getting ready to put up the new banner to represent the festival of course."
The structures are now all newly built and ready for the crowds.
"We want you guys to feel comfortable and welcoming when you come to Mangilao. Biba Mangilao! Biba Donne’ Festival!
He encourages families to come out to celebrate the island’s beloved local red pepper and enjoy the numerous activities planned this weekend.
