A convicted rapist and kidnapper was denied to have his sentence reduced
Marko Omwere was sentenced 30 years to life behind bars with the possibility of parole after 45 years for breaking into a woman’s home in Agana Heights, held a knife to her, and raping her multiple times before forcing her to drive to several locations in late 2016.
Last December, he filed a motion for a reduction but according to court documents, he failed to turn in the motion within the 120-day date of August 2017.

In April 2017 Omwere was found guilty of home invasion, five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and burglary.
According to court documents, the evidence includes a series of sexual assaults by the defendant against the victim that evening.
Omwere argued the evidence was insufficient to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, however, the Supreme Court affirmed Omwere's conviction.
The court also denied Omwere's argument on the use of the term "found." according to the kidnapping statute the term refers to the vicinity where the defendant comes upon his victim and not to whether the victim had to be found by law enforcement after the kidnapping.
