A pair are under arrest accused of brutally beating a man in Tumon over the weekend.

Mixed martial arts fighter Ricky Camp was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, assault on a peace officer, and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of felony.

Joseph Mendiola was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.

The Guam Police Department said the alleged victim, an off-duty law enforcement official, was attacked in Tumon near the police precinct around 2 a.m., Sunday.

The victim suffered multiple injuries to his face and knee.

Police say Mendiola allegedly admitted to the attack, adding that Camp was also involved.

But Camp allegedly denied attacking the victim, telling police he was only talking to the victim trying to get information about a damaged car.

Camp and Mendiola are being held at the Department of Corrections prison.

Police also connected Camp to a separate home invasion case and two other aggravated assault investigations arresting him on suspicion of home invasion, criminal mischief, aggravated assault, and use of a deadly weapon.

Camp was arrested in 2019 for allegedly smuggling five pounds of meth in the mail. Prison records show his criminal record dates back to 2015.
