The U.S. House Natural Resources Committee will be holding an oversight field hearing on Guam this Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Hilton Hotel.
According to a Congressional notice, members “will examine the importance of the U.S. Territories and the Freely Associated States to the United States’ ability to counter the People’s Republic of China’s malign influence and maintain our nation’s strategic interests in the region.
CNMI Del. Gregorio Sablan told KUAM News, "The purpose of this whole trip is to listen, to try and listen to what is going on on the ground. Again, the hearing was at Mr. [James] Moylan’s request and has been accommodated. After this, we are going to other parts of Micronesia before we return to Washington D.C."
The governors of Guam, the CNMI, and American Samoa are confirmed to be on a panel of witnesses that will offer testimony and answer questions.
