The driver involved in a serious car crash in Yigo Monday afternoon has died.

Authorities close to the investigation are now looking into how it all started.

Officers had received information that the driver, a woman, was allegedly involved in a stabbing in Dededo just moments prior to the crash.

Shoppers at a Yigo strip mall where the crash occurred are still coming to grips with what happened in the parking lot just after 2pm on Monday afternoon.

Surveillance video captured the startling moment a car is seen suddenly speeding north on Marine Corps Drive before crashing into another vehicle heading in the same direction.

The impact was so strong that is forced the car upfront to go airborne.

The speeding car did as well before hitting a concrete pole being torn into pieces.

Police said the driver was thrown from the car.

The sedan was seen flipped over, mangled, in the parking lot. The driver, first responders said, was a woman who was found unconscious and not responding.

The unidentified driver was rushed to the Guam Regional Medical City, but she did not survive.

Eyewitnesses on Monday afternoon took out their cell phone and started to record, while trying to figure out what they just saw.

"That is actually the front of the car. It's all the way down there," said one witness.

The evidence of the crash was still left behind the following day with car parts left in the parking lot.

Shoppers, on Tuesday, remain stunned, as images of the crash of the crash quickly circulated on social media.

"I stayed a little in my car, you know, to get everything situated before I get down. And then I was walking in. I came into the store it and I was you know, starting to work I clocked in and I was starting to work. And suddenly my boss came in and asked me, 'Where did I park my car?' So I told my boss, 'Oh, I parked in the front.' And then my boss told me, 'Oh, Linda, your car's totaled.' So, I walked out and that's when I saw my car," said Linda Fejeran, a cashier at Payless Supermarket in Yigo.

Fejeran was in her just minutes before the crash. Her roof was smashed in and her car windows had been shattered.

"I was imagining that if I would have stayed in my car for another two to three minutes probably my head will be gone," she said. "Because it was not even five minutes...since I came in there. I just starting to work."

Though still shaken, Fejeran said she feel lucky to be alive.

"I'm trying to stay strong," she said. "I have to tow my car somewhere, but I'm okay."

Joe Mantanona, who was back at the scene Tuesday, also recalled the chaos.

"Honestly, it looked like a scene from a movie, like everything exploded and it kind of disseminated," said Mantanona. "It looked crazy how the engine was, and you couldn’t really see anything but debris. I was just more concerned with where's the person in the car. It was pretty scary."

KUAM News also learning from authorities close to the investigation the incident apparently started from a separate police call of a reported stabbing in Dededo near the Guam Home Center.

That's where we spoke with Rick Castro, who explained that he was heading home when he saw the wreckage in Yigo.

"It just looked like pure carnage from the beginning of the parking lot to the very end near the Island Girl Cafe," said Castro.

The aftermath, he described, looked "like a war zone.”

"It was one of the worst I’ve ever seen and at the very end, it was just a heap of metal," he said. "Maybe at the most three yards, three cubic yards of heaping metal and for that to be crushed in that way, it was just unbelievable. And the cars that were struck on the way towards that little ball of metal that was left was unbelievable."

Guam Police are still looking into unconfirmed reports that the driver involved in the crash was also involved in an alleged stabbing in Dededo Monday afternoon.

KUAM also spoke to Home Center manager, Mike Wu.

He told us he did not see a stabbing occur in the store’s parking lot, adding the store's video surveillance only caught the car speeding by on Marine Corps Drive.

Meantime, authorities with GPD's Guam Highway Patrol Division continue to piece together the evidence into yet another tragedy that claimed the 18th life on Guam's roadway this year.
