Attorney Peter Santos announces bid to be Guam's next attorney general

Decision 2026 is already showing itself. A candidate for Guam's attorney general making his official announcement over the weekend. Attorney Peter Santos announcing his bid for AG.
Santos ran as a write-in during last year's election.
KUAM asking him why the decision to launch his campaign so soon.
"I just wanted to plant it in people’s minds because everything that I believed that I predicted would happen has happened with this current AG. We went from bad to worst from the last AG to the current AG. People need to start thinking about who is going to be the next AG and who has what it takes," he said.
"We have to do things right and with a healthy team. That is the first priority of what I will do if I become the next AG. It’s not just a promise to build a team but to do it. The current AG promised to rebuild the team but actually did the exact opposite and it’s getting worse. There is still more attorneys trying to leave the AG’s office. They are looking for a place to go. The ones that have left, I am in communication with them and they are just waiting for things to change and they want to go back," he said.
"Guam needs to realize that we need someone with experience and motivation and ideas to get that office back into shape. The office is on life support and the current AG is doing everything he can to prove to people that its not but there is a lot of people on this island that knows the truth. It is only going to get worse before it gets better. So I am looking to just start early and get ready for the next term."
Attorney Santos also encouraged others to try to run for public office.
KUAM reached out to AG Doug Moylan for comment.
