The Guam Fire Department was gifted a new jet ski to assist them with their rescue missions.

A special presentation was held Saturday morning at the boat basin in Hagatna.

Cars Plus President Joey Crisostomo said they reached out to their manufacturing partners, Kawasaki, and came up with the idea to give back to GFD.

“At Cycles Plus and Cars Plus, we do a lot for the community and we will always continue to do that for our island,” said Joey Crisostomo, President of Cars Plus. “We live in a beautiful place and going on two months since and we’ve recovered well. Anything we can do to help with their recovery, we are going to do our part.”

The jet ski, worth about $15,000, will be placed at the Marina in Hagat, saving GFD rescue crews time from having to transport other units when responding to calls down south.

“It’s definitely something we always need for our search and rescue operation. Whenever there is a distressed vessel or swimmer out there, this is the type of equipment that we use,” said Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas. “We are absolutely amazed at the demonstration by Cars Plus with Joey Crisostomo, Jen, Joey Jr., and Rob to think of us especially after the recovery, and how every agency is looking for resources to recover from that typhoon. This couldn’t have come at a better time.”

The fire chief adds that the donation came at a perfect time. GFD has five jet skis on its fleet, but one is currently inoperable.
