Possible load shedding Monday night

The Guam Power Authority advises customers of possible rotating outages from 4 p.m. through 11 p.m. today.

Officials said two of the island’s four baseload power plants are offline, reducing the total power generation capacity to 184.2 megawatts. Piti 8 is currently offline for emergency repairs and is expected to return to service later today.

Additionally, Cabras 2 was offline yesterday at around 1:21 a.m. for emergency repairs to the boiler system and is anticipated to return to service on Wednesday, July 12.

“GPA operations personnel are making every effort to expedite repairs on Piti 8 and Cabras 2 units to assist with generation capacity,” said GPA General Manager, John Benavente. “We ask for your patience and kindly request that all customers conserve power, especially during the peak demand hours.”
