This afternoon in the southern village of Hagat, two 40' containers filled with supplies to help families affected by Typhoon Mawar were delivered. The containers were filled thanks to the efforts of several CNMI officials who coordinated the collection and the generous donations from our brothers and sisters.

At the Hagat Gym, the containers were turned over by CNMI Corrections Commissioner Anthony Torres, Lt. Marvin Seman, Sgt. Ray Camacho, and Sgt. Ben Lizama who were greeted by the Mayors Councill of Guam. As we reported, it was a speech at the Guam legislature’s emergency session by Piti Mayor and MCOG President Jesse Alig that sparked action from Torres. This afternoon, Alig extended a sincere thank you.

"Without too much thinking, came to our aide. I am emotional about it because the bare essentials for human life are so important for us as leaders and to see our brothers and sisters from the CNMI were very quick to reach out to us, I just have no words- other than thank you, si yuus maase, and if there is any way we can we can repay this, I know my colleagues from the Mayors Council of Guam will be very eager to do so to return that favor to all of you in the CNMI," he said.

"This project would not have been possible without Commisioner Torres' leadership, without our partners from APL to bring this container here, so we are very grateful. And to Americorps and the Serve Guam Commission who will sort the items and make 19 stacks for the village mayors who will then go and distribute them to the people."

We should also add that Tinian Mayor Edwin Aldan and the Elected Municipal Council donated $20,000 from their local treasury and personally presented their donation to the MCOG on Tuesday. Rota Mayor Aubrey Hocog is also coordinating a shipment of supplies to the mayors which will be received soon.
