The A.B. Won Pat International Airport will reopen to the public Monday at 3 p.m., but passengers could expect delays in the process to get to their gates.

The heavy rainfall from Typhoon Mawar resulted in flooding in the terminal.

“As we reopen, I want to ensure we set the expectations for all our passengers. We are open, but we are still recovering to pre-typhoon levels as we continue to improve passenger experience,” said John “JQ” M. Quinata, Guam International Airport Authority Executive Manager. “All passengers should expect delays as all of our airport partners throughout the departures and arrivals process continue to recover to pre-typhoon operations.”

Airlines are anticipated to file their flight plans with the GIAA to begin flight operations and to bring their regularly scheduled operations online.

Passengers are advised to contact their airlines directly for flight status and rescheduling their flights.

Separately, the emergency shelters at local public schools will no longer be accepting residents who have been displaced by Typhoon Mawar, effective immediately.

The Joint Information Center reports the current shelter capacity has decreased to 815, as shelterees begin returning home to clean and assess damages.
