The hospital issued a news release confirming “the facility has experienced major damage and is now recovering from a state of emergency.”

GMH said during Typhoon Mawar it experienced walls coming down, doors to the outside and typhoon shutters coming open, and severe leaks and flooding.

GMH reports that heavy rain entered from windows, the ceiling and elevators. Water was flowing down all major staircases.

“It was a very dangerous situation,” GMH said.

The kitchen was also lost due to an electrical fire, but patient meals are being provided from the Skilled Nursing Facility and deliver to the hospital.

GMHA adds, “We thank all of our staff for their exemplary efforts during the storm into the ongoing recovery phase.
It was and still is “all hands on deck,” including our executive team, mopping up water and assisting where needed.”
