Rota residents are in the dark as the island is completely without power as of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to acting Commonwealth Utilities Corporation executive director Betty Terlaje.

She told KUAM tonight, "Rota is now completely without power. Both feeders down. Second one went down at 7:30 p.m."

In a separate service update, CUC says Rota's feeder 2 went offline at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. That disconnection left 90% of Rota customers without power, affecting 852 customers in Songsong, Sinapalo 1, 2, 3, farm areas, and the island's airport.

CUC also reported that water service has been offline since 1:26 pm. Wednesday, affecting all of its customers.

The National Weather Service says Rota remains in Typhoon Condition I and could face maximum sustained winds of 140 mph as Typhoon Mawar passes.

This is a developing story.
