Mawar is now a powerful 130 mph Category-4 typhoon.

The Guam National Weather Service reports the storm continues to intensify and approach the Marianas.

As of 2:22 p.m., Typhoon Mawar was located 180 miles southeast of Guam moving at 11 mph toward the island.

The eye of the storm is recorded to be 12 miles wide.

Residents in Guam are advised that now is the time to complete all preparations and to seek shelter.

Officials add that during this dangerous situation, residents should find a place that is built fully with reinforced concrete walls and roofs.
