Eight emergency shelters will be opened at the island’s public schools for those seeking refuge from the typhoon.

Officials with the Joint Information Center confirmed the shelters, which were initially set to open Monday night, will now open on Tuesday at 8 a.m.

The community is asked not to go to any of the shelters until then.

Anyone planning to seek shelter at one of the designated sites is asked to bring with them food and water to last seven days, bedding, personal hygiene products, medication, supplies for infants and toddlers including diapers and formula, a valid photo ID, and important docuements such as birth certificates, passports, and medical immunization cards.

Those who need a ride to the storm shelters are also asked to contact their village mayor.
