Mawar has strengthened to typhoon status

Mawar has strengthened to typhoon status. A Typhoon Watch remains in effect for Guam and the CNMI. As of 5 a.m., Typhoon Mawar was located 410 miles south-southeast of Guam and 485 miles south-southeast of Saipan. It is is moving north-northwest at 8 mph.
