Local Supreme Court to hear oral arguments for abortion statute on May 10

The stage is set for arguments before the Guam Supreme Court on the local abortion law.
The high court will decide if the 1990 statute banning abortions can take effect.
Chief Justice Robert Torres announced how the oral arguments set for May 10 will be heard.d
"We have met as a panel and decided that we will allow the governor 30 minutes, we will allow the attorney general 30 minutes," he said. "We will allow the legislature 15 minutes. We will allow amicae, Robert Klitzkie, represented by brad Huesman 10 minutes, and the remaining amicae 10 minutes to split amongst themselves."
Attorney General Doug Moylan has filed suit to lift a 1990 injunction that prohibits the abortion ban law from being implemented.
This follows last year's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned the landmark "Roe v. Wade" decision that made abortion legal across the country.
