CNMI governor Arnold Palacios is in Japan for three days meeting with Minister of Defense Yasukazu Hamada and other high-level government and tourism-related representatives. Palacios' office says it is in an effort to "strengthen government partnerships and expand the japanese tourism market to the CNMI."

Palacios and officials from the Marianas Visitors Authority also met with the U.S. Embassy in Japan to discuss promoting travel from Japan.

The governor presented to 120 travel agents and organizations, making the case for why they should come to the Marianas.

The visit comes after the news that the administration had announced their pivot away from China.
